✅ Solution: Get a Passport Easily as an IIT Kanpur Student

Step 1 — Hall Residence Slip

Go to the Hall Warden's office and ask for the Hall Residence Slip. You will be able to get this within no time if Warden is present or else within 1–2 days max. Easy 😉

Step 2 — Application Form for Bonafide

Go to your department office, and ask for the application form for Bonafide.
Fill out the form there in the office itself.
Submit the Application and the Hall Residence Slip (don’t forget to carry this with you).
You’ll get this back signed by HoD in a day or 2.

Step 3 — Bonafide Certificate from DOSA Office

Go to DOSA Office (Faculty Building 2nd Floor)
Submit these signed forms to the Receptionist.
You will get this within a day.
Voila! You got your Bonafide Certificate.

Step 4 — Apply Online for Passport

Visit https://www.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink
Register as a New User (if not registered already)
Select Fresh Passport (if first time)
Select Lucknow as the Passport office at the start (Don’t panic, it represents the Region. You do not have to go to Lucknow)
IMP: (There will be a prompt for Student) Fill in the Present Address to be IIT Kanpur’s address.
Choose Kalyanpur Station at the time of selecting Police Station
Complete the payment of INR 2000 (I chose 60 Pages for passport).
Schedule the time and data. (You will have to go to PSK Passport SevaKendra near Pristine)

Step 5 — Visit PSK (Address: Pristine, Kanpur)

Carry Original Document - Copy of each (Self Attested)
Carry a pen and some change money.
You will be assigned a Token
3 Step process there A — Processing, B — Verification, C — Final Check
This will take around 1–3 hours (reach 20 minutes early to your appointment time).

Step 6 — Police Verification

You will be called to the Police Station in the IIT itself.
You have to submit the basic documents, bonafide, marksheet, and passport application that you get in Step 5.

Step 7 — Passport Delivery

Done!
